ISLAMABAD -- Local Urdu TV channel Dunya reported that at least 11 people were killed while several others were injured on Monday night when American drones conducted missile strikes at a residence suspected to be a militant hideout in North Waziristan. Reports said the drone strikes took place at around 9:20 p.m. (local time) when U.S. drones launched a total of eight missiles at a house located in the Shawal area of North Waziristan. So far, the identities of the victims remain unknown. U.S. drones have repeatedly conducted missile strikes at suspected militant hideouts in the remote mountainous area along the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The target of the drones are militants suspected to be responsible in launching cross border attacks against NATO troops in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, hundreds of civilians have been killed in the airstrikes since 2004, when the United States commenced its offensive in Pakistan's tribal area.
