HOUSTON -- Local authorities said that a tornado touched down at a town in the state of Texas on Wednesday, reportedly causing injuries and property damage.
Waskom Police Chief Rex Hawsey said that four homes and business establishments were heavily damaged when the tornado struck west of Waskom in eastern Texas late Wednesday afternoon.
The storm brought high winds, heavy rains, hail, lightning and disrupted power and snapped trees across the town.
The local newspaper Marshall News Messenger said that emergency teams were immediately dispatched to the scene and treated the injured victims.
The reports said that the U.S. National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for northeast Texas up to 10 p.m. of Wednesday.
