Local authorities reported that Hong Kong's cumulative cases of A/H1N1 flu infections rose to 23,898 as 677 newly confirmed cases were reported in the past 24 hours up to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Department of Health of Hong Kong said that the newly confirmed cases involved 363 males and 314 females, whose ages ranged from as young as three months to 84 years.
In a releated development, Hong Kong's Hospital Authority reported that there are presently a total of 177 infected patients who are still confined in public hospitals for further medical treatment. Among them, 159 are in stable condition, eight in serious condition and 10 were reported to be in critical condition.
