Hong Kong's health authorities reported Friday another death from the A/H1N1 flu, raising the city's death toll from the new flu virus to 21.
According to the spokesperson of Hong Kong's Yan Chai Hospital, the victim was a 66 year-old male patient who suffered from diabetes, hypertension and angina pectoris. He initially showed mild upper respiratory symptoms on September 21. He was rushed to the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospital on September 22 due to his cardiac disease and was consequently admitted for medical monitoring.
However, his condition started to deteriorate and he was later moved to the Intensive Care Unit on September 23. The patient was given Tamiflu along with other antibiotics. He also needed ventilation support due to his critical condition.
The patient's sample tested positive for the A/H1N1 virus on September 24. His condition further deteriorated and eventually died at 5.26 a.m. on Sunday.
