Taipei -- Local epidemic control authorities in Taiwan reported on Wednesday that seven new patients infected by the A/H1N1 virus were admitted to hospitals, raising the island's total number of serious cases to 305.
To date, 18 people have succumbed to the new flu virus in the island while 257 people have already been discharged from hospitals.
According to Yang Zhiliang, chief of Taiwan's health authority, the locally manufactured A/H1N1 flu vaccines are still undergoing clinical trials. He added that an inoculation program of about 15 million doses of flu vaccines is expected to be available in November and the vaccines would be administered to the public for free.
