Kabul -- A press release issued by the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said that a militant attack claimed the life of an American soldier in southern Afghanistan on Sunday.
The press release just said that a U.S. service member died in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on October 18 in southern Afghanistan. It did not provide additional information, including the actual location of the incident.
The current year has proven as the deadliest for both international troops and innocent civilians in the war-torn nation as continued violence have already claimed more than 415 coalition soldiers, including 247 from the U.S., and 1,500 innocent civilians.
