Half of the children in a kindergarten in Turku have been displaying influenza A/H1N1 symptoms as reported on Tuesday.
The kindergarted from the southwestern region of the country had to close due to the flu virus as a measure to contain the spread.
The report stated that 15 of around 30 children have been showing symptoms of H1N1 along with six personnel members. Many of these cases have been confirmed as infected with the flu virus on Tuesday. Currently, two children have been hospitalized and are being treated.
Besides the case of the kindergarten, two other schools in Turku have detected flu virus cases. The Waino Aaltonen School has reported 10 cases of the virus and the Turku International School stated that a few cases were also found as infected with the virus.
Turku has been given 4,500 doses of the influenza A/H1N1 vaccine and began inoculation this week.
The first influenza A/H1N1 death was confirmed last Saturday in a 25-year-old woman.
