HELSINKI -- Finnish media reported on Friday that the southern region of the country is experiencing a rapid spread of the new flu virus, with group infections reported in some areas.
Experts believe that thousands of people have contracted the virus in Central-Pohjanmaa district in western Finland and in Lappi Province in northern Finland over the past two weeks.
Two schools in Salo, in the southern region of the country have diagnosed around 90 students who have contracted the A/H1N1 virus within the week. In addition, the Laakso Health Center in Helsinki saw the number of patients double this week.
To date, Finland has registered 759 cases of A/H1N1 flu, including one fatality.
