KABUL -- The United Kingdom's Ministry of Defense has confirmed that a British soldier was killed in an explosion in Helmand Province in Afghanistan.
The ministry said that the soldier was a member of the Royal Logistic Corps. He died on Saturday afternoon. The ministry added that the next of kin had already been notified.
The latest death raised the total number of British soldiers killed in Afghanistan to 224 since troops were deployed there in 2001.
