The first death because of the outbreak of Swine Flu has occurred in Austria with the victim being an eleven year old girl. It has been reported that the girl who was from South Tyrol region in Italy had been hospitalized in Innsbruck. She had been under intensive medical care for quite some days before succumbing to the viral disease. On records, she is the first fatal case in the country that has been attributed to H1N1.
There has been an initiation by the Health Authorities of Austria for a voluntary vaccination campaign for H1N1 that started last week. The public would be provided with the shots with some priority groups also being set up. The priority would be given to the women who are pregnant and the other risk groups as have been decided by the officials.
