HONG KONG -- The Hospital Authority of Hong Kong on Monday announced its 64th fatal case of the A/H1N1 flu involving a 76-year-old man with a history of Chronic Obstructive Airway Disease who died days after he tested positive for the A/H1N1 virus.

Health authorities said that the patient was admitted into the Pok Oi Hospital for treatment on January 13 due to flu symptoms.

On the same day he tested positive for the A/H1N1 flu  and was prescribed with Tamiflu and antibiotics. However, his condition still deteriorated despite the medication and was transferred to the High Dependency Unit, where he was declared dead on January 24.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Hospital Authority reported that another A/H1N1 flu patient is currently in critical condition and requires ventilation support.
