KABUL -- Police chief Mohammad Kabir Andarabi said that militants attacked a convoy of NATO forces in the northern Afghan province of Baghlan on Sunday.
According to Andarabi, Hungarian soldiers went to the district but they came under fire on their way back to their base in Pul-e- Khumri, Baghlan's provincial capital.
During the clash a Taliban militant was killed and another sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, Zabir Sadiqi, who claims to speak for an associate militant group to the Taliban called the Hizb-e-Islami, claimed responsibility for the attack, in talks with journalists via mobile phone from an unknown location. He said their fighters inflicted casualties on the troops by firing rockets.
Andarabi immediately dismissed the claim, noting that NATO soldiers suffered no casualties.
The Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT), a civilian-military unit of Hungary is based in Pul-e-Khumri to bolster security and help with reconstruction process in the province.
