HONG KONG -- Hong Kong's Hospital Authority reported on Tuesday that the city's A/H1N1 death toll has risen to 67, following the death of a 73-year-old male patient.
The patient had a history of diabetes mellitus and multiple chronic illnesses. He was admitted at the United Christian Hospital on January 5 with flu-like symptoms.
He was confined to the medical ward and also tested positive for the A/H1N1 virus on the same day. He was given Tamiflu, Relenza and antibiotics. His condition improved, prompting his transfer to Kowloon Hospital on January 23 for rehabilitation.
According to the Hospital Authority, the patient later developed symptoms of stroke and was brought back to the United Christian Hospital on February 5. He died the following day.
