Eight People Killed in Bus Mishap in Northwest China

LANZHOU --  Local police said that eight people were killed on Wednesday morning when a bus fell into a ravine close to Longnan City, in China's Gansu Province.

The traffic police unit under the Gansu Provincial Department of Public Security said that Luo Yongshan, the driver of the bus with 33 passengers on board, was among those killed. It added that the injured passengers were brought to two hospitals in Longnan, however it gave no exact figure.

The accident took place near Shuanggou village in the ditrict of Wudu of Longnan at around 7:40 a.m. while the bus was en route to Lueyang County of Shaanxi Province.

An investigation had been launched and the provincial police department has dispatched a team led by Zhong Shan, deputy head of the traffic police unit, to help with the probe.
