PARIS -- Local police reported that an overnight fire killed at least six in northern France on Wednesday. Two others suffered severe injuries.
Local firefighters said the blaze broke out at around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday in Tourcoing, close to the city of Lille. The flames quickly engulfed a building with 15 residents.
Firefighters at the site reported that they had found six bodies. However, the exact number of casualties could be higher as search operations are still underway.
Local media reported that the blaze was put out after three hours and its cause is yet to be determined.
