Kigali, March 10, 2010 -- New influenza A/H1N1 cases have been reported in the Burera district in the Northern Province one month after the situation had stabilized.
According to Dr. Justin Wane, Head of the Swine flu response team under the Ministry of Health, the rate of infection had lowered significantly in the beginning of February up to one or two cases reported weekly.
New reports stated that six new laboratory confirmed cases have been detected in the Burera district last week as cases of the virus are expected to increase.
There is a high number of seasonal flu cases also at the moment and many people have been confusing seasonal flu with the influenza A/H1N1. For this a new update is expected to confirm the infection.
Dr. Wane has advised general public to remain alert as a prevention.
Since the virus was first detected on October in Rwanda a total of 400 patients have been treated to the pandemic virus and have fully recovered.
