BRASILIA -- The Brazilian military announced on Thursday that four soldiers were killed following the crash of an army helicopter during a training exercise.
The military said that the crash took place on Wednesday evening close to Corumba, a municipality of the western state of Mato Grosso do Sul.
Based on a statement issued by the military, the helicopter was a model Aeschylus belonging to the Third Aviation Battalion of the regional capital Campo Grande. It went down during operation "Cabure," a routine training exercise for pilots and crew members. Among the fatalities were two captains, a sergeant and an army corporal.
Experts from the Military Police and the Brazilian Air Force are investigating the cause of the mishap.
