AT least ten people have been killed and nine injured in a bomb blast targeting an army convoy in southern Afghanistan, officials said.
"An explosion by a three-wheeled motorcycle targeting an army convoy killed at least ten civilians in a crowded area of Gereshk district,'' Daud Ahmadi, spokesman for the Helmand provincial government, said.
He said the blast happened after the convoy had crossed a bridge, beneath which crowds of people were picnicking to mark the traditional Zoroastrian new year.
