A police source said that a car bomb and a roadside bomb explosions near and in Baghdad killed at least two people while 17 others were injured on Thursday.
The police source, on condition of anonymity, said that a booby-trapped car parked at a marketplace in the town of Yousifiyah was detonated Thursday afternoon, killing two people and injuring 15 others.
In a separate incident, two more people were injured when a roadside bomb exploded near the Sarrafiyah Bridge in central Baghdad.
In a related report, an Iraqi police source stated that Iraq's security forces sustained its first casualty after the U.S. troops withdrew from Iraqi cities and towns. A roadside bomb which hit an Iraqi army vehicle was responsible for the soldier's death. There were 10 others who were also injured, including two more soldiers.
