Taipei -- Taiwan' health authorities confirmed on Saturday afternoon another fatal case from the A/H1N1 flu, raising the island's death toll to seven.
According to the authorities, the latest fatality was a 49-year-old man from Taipei County. The island's health bureau is scheduled to release a statement explaining the the victim's condition and whether he suffered from other illnesses.
It was not certain whether the victim had a history of travel overseas.
Last Thursday, the country's health authories stated that the number of people who contracted the A/H1N1 flu on the island was rapidly rising, with some 104 patients in critical conditions.
Taiwan's first fatal case involved a 39-year-old man who succumbed to the A/H1N1 flu on July 30. He was followed by a six-year-old girl who passed away on Aug.16, and then a 24-year-old college student who died of the new flu virus on Aug. 21.
