Beijing -- Local authorities reported on Saturday that two more schools have reported A/H1N1 flu outbreaks in the Chinese mainland, which involve a total of 23 confirmed cases.
A spokesman with the Huizhou Municipal Health Bureau reported that some nineteen students have contracted the new flu virus at a secondary school in Huizhou City.
The spokesman said that the first flu patient at the Huizhou Agricultural School was a boy who is currently under quarantine at home. He no longer presented flu symptoms and those who had close contact with him are in good condition. The spokesman added that the other 18 students were quarantined and received treatment in a hospital, and only three of them presented with fever.
Meanwhile, the provincial health department said in a statement that in Hefei, another four students at the Anhui Institute of International Business tested as having been infected by the A/H1N1 flu. They are presently quarantined and undergoing treatment at the Hefei Municipal Hospital of Infectious Disease.
Elsewhere in the mainland, A/H1N1 flu outbreaks have also been reported in schools in the provinces of Sichuan, Hunan, Henan, Shaanxi, Shandong, Jiangsu as well as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The Health Ministry announced on Friday evening that the Chinese mainland has documented 4,415 cases of the A/H1N1 flu, among which 3,577 have already recovered. The ministry also said that the new flu virus has so far caused no fatalities on the mainland.
