Canada Minor // Air Accident
Another disaster in Northern Ontario as two of three people travelling in a de Havilland Beaver aircraft were found in the submerged fuselage following a crash. A third person on board is recovering in hospital. Most of the single-engine de Havilland Beaver was submerged when it crashed into the lake Friday afternoon. The plane crashed into about eight feet of water, with the pontoon sticking out. Police said Sunday they pulled the bodies of pilot Richard Douglas, 55, of Napanee, Ont., and Glen Higgs, 56, of Cochrane, Ont., from Lillabelle Lake, near Cochrane, northeast of Timmins. Transportation Safety Board of Canada spokesman said Saturday that investigators still have no apparent cause for the crash. (click "Photo" filter to view image)
