Local authorities said two people had been swept away by flash floods that have been triggered by heavy rains over the past three days in the provinces of Dak Lak and Quang Nam. One was already confirmed dead. According to the local steering committee for Flood Prevention and Control, the victims were identified as a 30 year-old male and an 18-year-old female. The aforementioned provinces received as much as 60 to 80 mm of rainfall, causing severe flooding. In the district of Ea H'el alone, flash floods submerged 490 homes, swept away two bridges and damaged about 1,800 hectares of agricultural land. Authorities expect the water levels in local rivers to rise following the release of excess supply from hydro-power reservoirs.
